Anye Village is comprised of former Anye Village and Ansi Village.
The original Anye Village was called "Kanzai Community" during the Qing Dynasty. During the Japanese Occupation Period, it was renamed Anye ("to live peacefully and happily") Village with the hope that residents could live peacefully and happily in this area. In earlier times, there were six communities: Dongshi, Siliubu (Andong Village), Jiukuaicuo (Anye Village), Jhuweizai, Wukuaicuo, and Dongbu (Ansi Village). The areas were all developed by the Li settlers from Quanzhou. Anye and Ansi Village both were assigned as the 2nd Bao in Anye during the Japanese Occupation Period. It was split into two after the War, and this area was named Anye (it belonged to Anye Community during the Qing Dynasty and Japanese Occupation Period, along with Andong Village and Ansi Village). The main industry of Anye Village is agriculture, with shaddocks and white pomelos as their main produce.
The former Ansi Village is located in the southern part of Madou District, and is the gateway to Sigang and Tainan City. The Village includes four settlements: Wukuaicuo, Dongdu, Jhuweizi, and Dongqizhou. The right wing of the Wukuaicuo Beiji Temple houses the Li Family Temple where descendants can worship three generations of their ancestors who lived during the Qing Dynasty. The present Wukuaicuo Li Family, which is currently at their tenth generation, all descended from Li Bie, the first generation to settle in Taiwan. It is estimated their ancestors came to Taiwan during the rule of Qing Emperor Qianlong, and has been here for over 200 years. The main places of worship in the Village include Anye Taizi Temple, Dongan Temple, Beiji Temple, Jhongan Temple, and Dizang Temple. (Source: Tainan County Madou District oral history from elders.)
