Siangkou Village is comprised of the original Siangkou Village and Bao'an Village.
The original Siangkou Village can trace its history back to the initial stages of cultivation and development of Maduo. The settlers started in the northern parts (Houyuchao Little Village), then expanded to the east (Shi'er Road), to the west (Caodianwei), and eventually to the south (Siangkou). These four areas are known as the "four corners" of Maduo. The scope of the Village includes the area between Houweigou and Sanmin Road (east- west), and the old train station and Madou Land Office and the sugar factory railway (north - south). The main temple of the Village, also known as "Siangkoujiao", is Qing'an Temple. Major settlements in Siangkoujiao are the Ko family lands, the Guo family lands, and the Li family lands. This zone includes all settlements in Siangkou Village and some of those in Zhongxing Village. The name of the Village comes from the name of the largest settlement here - Siangkuo. This village is located within the center of Madou District, with many governmental offices and agencies in the area, including the fire department, District Public Health Center, ChungHwa Telecom, the post office, Taiwan Power Company (Madou service office), Madou Culture Center (ground floor: culture center, third & forth floor: library), and the Madou Association for the Elderly Residents. Siangkou Village has a complete community organization which includes an environmental protection volunteer team, Siangkou Village community care center volunteer group, and Siangkou Community Development Association. Qing'an Temple, the temple of the Marshal of the Central Altar (Nezha), is the main place of worship in the Village. The large banyan tree in front of the temple is where locals gather to cool down and chat. The folk arts array - Taiping Qingge, is one of our quintessence national cultures which includes an array of orchestra instruments and unique music and melodies. Siangkou Taiping Qingge in Madou is very popular because of "Madou Shibayao" (a nighttime arts array). The arts array was founded and collectively funded by the gentry in Siangkoujiao in 1917. The original Bao'an Village was reassigned as Bao'an Village under Madou Township after the Recession of Taiwan. It was named thus ("Bao'an" meaning "to safeguard, to keep safe") with the hope that the country would forever be safe and peaceful. Bao'an Village is located at the center of Madou District, and most of the residents run small businesses and shops for a living. In this simple village you can find Bao'an temple, First Commercial Bank, Madou District Farmers' Association, and Madou Theater. Baoning temple on Singzhong Road used to be the temple of the "Five Kings"; however, due to the deterioration of the surrounding environment, the deity/deities relocated elsewhere and Baoning temple was moved to Jhuangding Street and renamed as Bao'an temple. Madou residents would visit Nankunshen Temple in groups on the last day of the lunar calendar of March to invite the deity ("Wang Ye") to visit Madou. The deity will stay a night at Wangye Pu (town), parade through the village the next day and take a break here; thus the place is also known as Wang Ye Temple. Due to the reorganization of villages and neighborhoods on October 17, 2018, the temple was once again renamed as Baoning Temple.
