Prince Chih was a pioneering ancestor and settler of Taiwan. Prince Chih's Temple at Haipu is located at Haipu Village of Madou District. The Temple serves as the seat for Five Great Princes of a Thousand Years (Prince Chih, Prince Li, Prince Wu, Prince Jhu, and Prince Fan). Prince Chih occupies the seat of honor, and his divine figure was shipped from China to Taiwan during the late Ming and early Cing era, making the Temple over 300 years old. Performance events were once held in 1996 at Prince Chih's Temple and proved a success that has continued to this day. It was said that Prince Chih's Temple and Nankunshen Daitian Fu (Temple of the Heavenly Viceroys at Nankunshen) are historically connected. In the past, Haipu served as a stopping point for the Princes traveling between Madou and Nankunshen. Hence, the area around Haipu became known as Wangyepu (The Prince's Flats), witnessing many divine miracles and attracting many supplicants and worshipers. The Temple later collaborated with the Ministry of National Defense to build the Military History Park, using the Temple courtyards to exhibit historical airplanes, tanks, and missiles once used by the army.
